EAGLES JET OUT TO GUINEA-BISSAU TODAY FOR AFCON QUALIFIER

The Super Eagles will depart Uyo for Bissau today for their second Group L fixture of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau.

This was announced in a media advisory released on Saturday.

According to the itinerary, the team will hold a final training session in Uyo at 10am. The session will be closed to the media.

The team is expected to arrive at the airport at 2pm, with departure for Bissau scheduled for 3pm.

Head coach Eric Chelle’s side began their qualifying campaign with a 2-1 comeback victory over Madagascar on Friday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

Debutants George Ilenikhena and Moses Usor scored in the 45+1 and 65th minutes respectively, after the Eagles had gone behind early in the game.

Usor’s winner, a solo effort from a cleared corner, was the highlight of the encounter.

Nigeria currently sits second in Group L, with Tanzania having already secured automatic qualification as co-hosts of AFCON 2027. Only the top-ranked team from the group will qualify.

The Super Eagles will face Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday, September 29.

The team is expected to hold a light recovery session upon arrival in Bissau on Sunday.
