AFCON 2027 Qualifiers, Finals to Air Live on SuperSport
CANAL+ has secured the broadcast rights for the CAF Africa Cup of Nations PAMOJA 2027 qualifiers and finals, with the matches set to air on SuperSport across Sub-Saharan Africa.
The agreement gives football fans access to the full AFCON journey, from the ongoing qualifying campaign through to the 24-team finals in East Africa next year.
The qualifiers feature 48 nations divided into 12 groups of four, with six matchdays scheduled to determine the teams that will join co-hosts Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda at the finals.
The opening two matchdays run through October 6, with the remaining fixtures scheduled for November 2026 and March 2027.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles made a winning start to their Group L campaign on Friday, defeating Madagascar 2-1 in Uyo through goals from debutant George Ilenikhena and Moses Usor.
Eric Chelle’s side will continue their qualifying campaign against Guinea-Bissau in Bissau on Tuesday, September 29, with kick-off scheduled for 5pm.
Chief Executive of CANAL+ Africa, David Mignot, described the agreement as an important step in bringing African football closer to supporters across the continent.
‘We are thrilled to bring the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations PAMOJA 2027 Qualifiers and the tournament itself to SuperSport, giving football fans across the continent the opportunity to follow their national teams from the opening stages of qualification through to the biggest moments of the finals,’ Mignot said.
The agreement also expands CANAL+’s coverage in French-speaking Sub-Saharan Africa, with the qualifiers to be broadcast in French across more than 20 countries.
The AFCON PAMOJA 2027 finals will also be available across the continent through entry-level packages.
Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda will jointly host the 2027 AFCON from June 19 to July 17, making it the first edition of the tournament to be staged across three host nations.
The tournament will also mark AFCON’s return to East Africa for the first time since Ethiopia hosted the competition in 1976.
With the new agreement, SuperSport will carry coverage of the competition from the qualifying campaign through to the AFCON PAMOJA 2027 finals.
