Favour Ashe runs fastest 60m time by an Auburn University athlete in five years
As Leroy Burell looks to the Nigerian to end University's win-less conference run in over 20 years
Nigeria 100m king Favour Ashe ran the fastest 60m time by an Auburn University sprinter in five years when he ran 7.57 to finish second Friday on Day 1 of the Clemson Invite at the Clemson University indoor track complex in Clemson, South Carolina.
Ashe’s time made him the fifth-fastest performer all-time at Auburn University as it was the fastest 60 time by a Tiger sprinter in five years.
It was the Nigerian’s indoor debut for the University after transfering from University of Tennessee where he won a bronze in the 60m event at the NCAA Div. I Indoor Championships in Alabama last March and silver in the 100m at the NCAA Div. I Outdoor Championships in Oregon lasy year June.
The Nigerian holds a personal indoor best of of 6.51 to make him the fourth joint fastest Nigerian ever in the all time and outdoor best of 9.99.
Auburn University head coach, Leroy Burell will banking on Ashe to help turn the fortunes of the University around especially at the Conference level.
The University has won zero conference titles in about 23 years and has not won an SEC title since 1980. The Tigers have had only two individual NCAA champions since 2010.
