Adeleke Takes 200m Resurgence to Athlos in London
Rhasidat Adeleke will take her 200m resurgence to London on Friday when she competes at Athlos, with the Irish sprinter potentially making her final appearance of the season.
The 24-year-old has endured a disappointing 400m campaign after showing enormous potential in the event over the past three seasons, finishing fourth at both the 2023 and 2024 global championships.
Adeleke has struggled to reproduce those performances this year, failing to break 51 seconds in the 400m. Her season has been a significant drop from her 49.07-second personal best set just two years ago and the 50.42 she ran last season.
Her biggest breakthrough this year has come in the 200m, where she clocked a lifetime best and Irish record of 22.28 seconds.
Adeleke will now compete in the 200m at Athlos in London, where she faces a formidable field led by Olympic champion Gabby Thomas.
Kayla White, Anavia Battle and Brittany Brown are also confirmed for the race, setting up a stern test for Adeleke as she seeks to end her season on a positive note.
The London race provides the Irishwoman with an opportunity to build on her progress over 200m and remind the athletics world of the talent that made her one of the most highly rated quarter-milers of her generation.
