Aderemi Storms to 50.95s PB, Misses Udo-Obong’s ₦500,000 Mark by 0.15s
17-Year-Old Makes Stunning 0.91-Second Leap to Win Dynamic Athletics Meet 400m
Iyanuoluwa Aderemi announced herself as one of Nigeria’s emerging quarter-milers after producing a stunning personal best of 50.95 seconds to win the women’s 400m at the Dynamic Athletics Meet 2026 at the Yabatech Sports Complex in Lagos.
Aderemi’s performance represented a remarkable improvement of 0.91 seconds on the 51.86 seconds she clocked on June 21, 2026.
Her latest run also took her comfortably inside the 51-second barrier and underlined the scale of her progress in less than two months.
Her victory earned her the ₦50,000 cash prize donated by Princess Mabel Madojiemu, while second-placed Esther Okon ran a personal best of 51.52 seconds to collect ₦30,000. Onyinyechi Success Onu finished third in the race and received ₦20,000.
Aderemi’s 50.95 seconds also came tantalisingly close to the 50.80-second target set by Olympic champion Enefiok Udo-Obong in his challenge for a ₦500,000 prize. Although she missed the mark by just 0.15 seconds, her breakthrough performance was one of the standout moments of the meeting.
The dramatic improvement from 51.86 seconds to 50.95 seconds represents a huge leap in the highly competitive 400m event and signals Aderemi’s emergence as a serious prospect on the Nigerian athletics scene.
