Adeshina Chases Historic 2.00m Height, 3rd Straight NCAA Outdoor Appearance to Arkansas

Nigerian high jump star Temitope Adeshina will look to extend her undefeated streak this weekend when the NCAA West First Round Championships take place at John McDonnell Field from Wednesday through Saturday.
The 27‑year‑old Texas Tech University athlete is bidding for her third consecutive appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and hopes to become the first Nigerian student‑athlete in collegiate history to win both the indoor and outdoor high jump titles.
Adeshina claimed her second straight indoor crown in March but has yet to secure the outdoor title.
She enters the meet with an outdoor season’s best of 1.95m and is widely tipped to challenge the elusive 2.00m mark, a height no Nigerian high jumper has ever cleared.
Adeshina’s rise has been steady: she finished 7th in her debut at the NCAA West First Rounds in 2024, before storming to 1st place in 2025.
Now, she returns as the favorite, carrying both form and history on her side.
