Ahmed Musa eager to become first Nigerian to win two AFCON titles
Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa says he is desperate to lift the Africa Cup of Nations trophy for a historic second time as he is set to lead Nigeria’s
charge for a fourth title when the 34th edition of the competition starts this weekend in Cote D’Ivoire.
Musa told the audience at the farewell party organised for the Super Eagles Tuesday night by Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu he is desirous of
savouring another moment of glory for Nigeria.
The 31 year old will be making his fourth appearance in the competition and stated that even though he knows the joy of winning the Africa Cup trophy, having
been part of the squad that triumphed in South Africa in 2013, he is eagerly anticipating another touch of the coveted trophy.
‘We are ambitious and we will do our best. The AFCON is an important tournament for every African player, and we are all looking forward to giving our best
to do the nation proud.’
Musa has featured 14 times for Nigeria in the competition and has scored just once-Nigeria’s fourth goal in the 4-1 drubbing of Mali in the semifinal of the 2013 competition. He has also provided an assist which Nigeria level in the 3-2 defeat of Cameroun after the Indomitable Lions had gone 2-1 up on 44 minutes after cancelling Odion Ighalo’s 19th minute opener in the 42nd minute.
