Ahmed Musa scores first Turkish League goal in six months

Awoniyi nets 10th Bundesliga goal, Iwobi loses 10th game in 12 appearances Vs Man City

Nigeria captain Ahmed Musa scored the winner for his Turkish Super Lig side, Faith Karamgumruk in their 2-1 win at Istanbul Basaksehir FK on Saturday.

The goal was Musa’s first for the club since he scored on his debut last August in the 3-2 defeat of visiting Gaziantep FK at the Atatürk Olimpiyat.

The 29 year old has now scored twice and bagged two assists in 21 Turkish Super Lig games for his club.

In Germany, Taiwo Awoniyi rose from the substitutes’ bench to score his first Bundesliga goal of 2022.

The 24 year old had gone nearly three months without finding the net after scoring nine times in his first 14 Bundesliga games for Union Berlin.

He scored moments after he was introduced into the game to extend his club’s lead to 3-0 before the visitors, Mainz 05 pulled one back.

The goal was his 10th of the campaign in 21 games.

In England, precisely at the Brentford Community stadium, Frank Onyeka was an unused substitute for the third game in a row as his club, Brentford lost for the seventh time in their last eight games.

The Nigerian has now been made to sit on the bench as an unused substitute for the fourth time in his first season in the Premier League.

At Old Trafford, Emmanuel Dennis was the only Nigerian in action in Watford’s goalless draw against their host, Manchester United.

Dennis was on from the start for his 23rd start in 24 games in his debut season in the competition.

At Goodison Park, Alex Iwobi started for the third game in a row in Everton’s 1-0 loss to Manchester City.

It was the first time the 25 year old wll start three Premier League games in a row for the Toffees this season and he was on for all of 87 minutes.

The defeat to the defending champion and league leaders was the Nigerian’s 10th in 12 games in all competitions with eight coming in 10 Premier League matches.
