AIU Hands Carey McLeod Two-Year Ban for Whereabouts Failures
Jamaican Long Jumper Suspended After Three Whereabouts Violations
The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has announced that Jamaican athlete Carey McLeod has been banned for two years following multiple Whereabouts Failures.
The suspension, effective from May 28, 2026, comes after McLeod committed three violations within a twelve-month period beginning June 30, 2025.
The AIU confirmed that the long jumper failed to comply with testing requirements on three separate occasions, including missed tests and filing failures in Jamaica, the United States, and Hungary.
McLeod’s first violation occurred on June 30, 2025, when he was unavailable for testing at his declared location in St Andrew, Jamaica. A second violation followed on August 9, 2025, when discrepancies in his updated Whereabouts filings left his overnight accommodation and testing slot addresses inconsistent.
The third violation was recorded on May 1, 2026, when he failed to be present at his declared Clarendon address during the designated testing window.
The AIU confirmed that McLeod admitted the violations and accepted the consequences, which include disqualification of all results from May 1, 2026, onwards, with forfeiture of medals, titles, points, and prize money.
This is McLeod’s first Anti-Doping Rule Violation. Under Rule 10.3.2 of the Anti-Doping Rules, the standard sanction for three Whereabouts Failures is two years of ineligibility.
The AIU noted that McLeod waived his right to a disciplinary hearing and accepted the sanction immediately.
The decision has been published on the AIU’s website, with the athlete, WADA, and the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission retaining the right to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland.
