Alaba Set to Join Okoye at Udinese After Completing Medical

Former Bayern Munich and Real Madrid defender David Alaba is set to join fellow Nigeria international Maduka Okoye at Udinese after reportedly completing his medical ahead of a move to the Serie A club.

The 34-year-old Austrian is a free agent after leaving Real Madrid at the end of last season following five years at the Spanish giants.

According to reports including Sky Sport Italia, Alaba completed his medical without any issues and is now expected to sign a short-term contract with Udinese.

His move to Italy will see him link up with Nigeria goalkeeper Okoye, who is already part of the Udinese squad.

Alaba was born in Vienna, Austria, to Nigerian parents and chose to represent Austria at international level. He has earned more than 100 caps for the Austrian national team and captained the country.

The versatile defender spent five seasons at Real Madrid after joining from Bayern Munich, where he won numerous domestic and European honours.

His time in Madrid was disrupted by injuries, most notably an ACL injury suffered in December 2023 that kept him out for 399 days.

Alaba was also linked with moves to Hamburg, Inter Miami and Saudi Arabian club Al-Sadd before reportedly opting for a return to competitive football in Italy.

Udinese currently sit 13th in Serie A after five matches, with Alaba expected to add experience and versatility to their squad if the deal is completed.
