‘Alhamdoulilah’, AFCON 2021 Best Player Mane Cuddles Trophy In Bed

AFCON 2021 player of the tournament, Sadio Mane posted a photograph of himself cuddling the Africa Cup of Nations trophy in bed the morning after Senegal’s penalty shootout triumph over Egypt.

It was the Liverpool forward who smashed home the winning spot-kick after a 0-0 draw over 120 minutes, a feat which also earned him the Player of the Tournament award.

Senegal had never won the AFCON crown, having lost in finals in 2002 and 2019. But that wait was ended in fine style after Edouard Mendy saved Mohanad Lasheen’s penalty, to set up Mane’s big finish.

On Monday morning, Mane posted a series of shots from his hotel room with the trophy alongside him and winners’ medal around his neck, with the caption “Alhamdoulilah” – or ‘Praise be to God’.
