Alhassan Yusuf Earns MLS Team of the Matchday Honours

The New England Revolution continued their dominant run at home with a 1-0 victory over D.C. United at Gillette Stadium, marking their third consecutive win in Foxborough and second straight clean sheet.

Midfielder Alhassan Yusuf delivered the decisive moment, scoring in the 35th minute to secure the result and earn recognition on the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi for Matchday 7.

Assistant coach Michael Morris praised Yusuf’s impact following the match.

‘Yusuf is a fantastic guy, and every single moment that I’ve been able to work with him, I’ve come to appreciate him that much more day in and day out. He has definitely put himself in a position where he’s very integral to what we want to do in terms of in possession, out of possession, and in the multiple positions that he’s been able to adapt to and play in so far,’ he said.

Reflecting on his evolving role, Yusuf noted: ‘I was in kind of a more defensive role before. But then, of course, the role that I’m playing now, I have to be in the box and then finish the attack. So yeah, I’m not surprised by the goals that I’ve scored.’

Since joining the Revolution in August 2024, Yusuf has become a key figure in the midfield. After recording two goals and two assists last season, he has already matched his previous goal total in just six matches under head coach Marko Mitrović.
