Ally McCoist: ‘Osimhen’s the nearest I’ve seen to Drogba in a long, long time’
Former Scotland international and now TalkSPORT pundit Ally McCoist has hailed Napoli forward Victor Osimhen put up a virtuoso performance against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday in a UEFA Champions League round of 16 game in Naples.
The Nigerian, 24, scored twice in a 3-0 win to propel Napoli to their first quarterfinal appearance in the competition and McCoist has compared Osimhen to Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba.
“I’ve been raving about this fellow for a long, long time,” McCoist told talkSPORT
“I’m telling you he’s the real deal. I don’t usually stick my neck out, he’s the nearest I’ve seen to Drogba in a long, long time. He’s physical, he’s quick, he’s aggressive.”
The former Lille of France forward is one of the most in-form attackers across Europe this season and has netted 23 goals in 28 games across all competitions so far this season.
Meanwhile, Osimhen says his future will be sorted in the summer as his focus now is to lead Napoli to Serie A and UEFA Champions League glory.
‘I don’t know what the future holds. At the end of the season, I will sit down with my agents and discuss. I will also be in talks with Napoli,’ Osimhen tells Sport1 in an interview.
‘I am incredibly grateful to Napoli. We’ll find a good solution together’.
