Amusan, Brume To Be Unveiled As Premium Trust Bank Ambassadors Wednesday
Two of Nigeria’s brightest and best track and field stars, sprint hurdler Tobi Amusan and long jumper Ese Brume will be formally unveiled as Premium Trust Bank Ambassadors on Wednesday.
The unveiling ceremony has been scheduled to hold at the Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos and expected to be in attendance among other dignitaries is the President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, Tonobok Okowa and some members of his executive board.
Both Amusan and Brume made history for Nigeria in 2022.
Amusan became the first Nigerian track and field star to be crowned a world champion and world record holder following her incredible feats in Oregon, USA at the 18th World Athletics Championships.
The 25 year old sped to a new 12.12 seconds world record in the semifinals before storming home first in the final to win the 100m hurdles title.
Amusan also became the first Nigerian track and field athlete to successfully defend a Commonwealth Games title when she ran a new 12.30 seconds Games record to retain the 100m hurdles gold she won four years ago.
She also successfully defended her 100m hurdles Diamond League crown in Zurich last week to become the first Nigerian to win a Diamond League discipline and the first to successfully defend it.
Brume on her part also made history by becoming the first Nigerian to win individual medals at two different editions of the competition.
She is also the first Nigerian to win medals at the World indoor and outdoor Championships the same year and the second Nigerian after Glory Alozie to win medals at both championships.
Brume also made history as the second Nigerian track and field athlete to win two individual medals at the Commonwealth when she reclaimed the long jump title she gave up four years ago without a fight.
She also made history as the first woman long jumper in Commonwealth Games history to hit the 7m mark.
The 26 year old is the only Nigerian athlete to win at least a medal at all major continental and global athletics
championships and games.
She won medals at the African Championships, African Games, Commonwealth Games, World indoor and outdoor Championships as well as the Olympics.
