Amusan Chases Historic Fourth Diamond League Hurdles Crown in Brussels
Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan will line up in Lane 4 on Saturday as she bids to make history by becoming only the second woman after Dawn Harper-Nelson to win the Diamond League high hurdles crown four times.
The 29-year-old Nigerian enters the final with another major incentive, as victory could see her reclaim the women’s 100m hurdles world record of 12.12 seconds, which she lost to American Masai Russell after Russell clocked a new world record of 12.09 seconds last week.
Amusan will also be targeting the prestigious Diamond League Trophy and $60,000 prize money that comes with victory.
A fourth title would further underline her status as one of the greatest hurdlers of her generation and add another major achievement to her already remarkable career.
With Nigerians watching and cheering her on, Amusan will be hoping to produce another special performance in Brussels and bring home the Diamond League crown.
