Amusan to open 2024 Diamond League campaign with blockbuster race in Xiamen
Former World 100m hurdles champion, Tobi Amusan will begin her 2024 Diamond League in Xiamen, China on April 20.
The Nigerian, 26, is seeking to become the second woman in Diamond League history to win the 100m hurdles four straight times and will want to lay down the marker in the opening Diamond League race of 2024 at the Egret Stadium in Xiamen.
According to the organizers of the event, ‘the women’s 100m hurdles will feature a riveting showdown between reigning Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico and the two most recent world champions: Amusan of Nigeria and Danielle Williams of Jamaica.
However, Devynne Charlton will be a huge threat, the Bahamian keen to convert her scintillating indoor form to the 100m hurdles, having set a world indoor record of 7.65 to win in Glasgow,’ the organizers wrote on the Diamond League website.
The Nigerian will also be seeking to close the head to head gap between her and the duo of Williams (14-17) and Camacho-Quinn (7-12) as well as consolidate her superiority over Charlton who she has beaten 20 times in 22 confrontations.
