Ancelotti: ‘Not Really Satisfied’ With Brazil’s Performance
Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted his side struggled in their FIFA World Cup 2026 opener against Morocco, despite maintaining the Seleção’s historic unbeaten streak in opening matches.
Speaking after the 1-1 draw, Ancelotti acknowledged his disappointment with Brazil’s first-half performance.
‘I think we didn’t start very well, I’m a little worried. We lost a lot of duels and possession, but we improved in the second half of a difficult match, because Morocco is a good team,’ he said.
The Italian tactician highlighted Brazil’s difficulties in coping with Morocco’s pressing game.
‘In the first half, we had difficulty getting out of the pressure, we could have had more control. Satisfied? Not really. I expected a better start. But things can happen. Now I’m going to focus on the next game,’ Ancelotti added.
Brazil’s equalizer came courtesy of Vinícius Jr, whose stunning strike canceled out Ismael Saibari’s opener for Morocco.
The result extended Brazil’s unbeaten run in World Cup openers to 21 matches, though Morocco became only the second team since Switzerland in 2018 to deny them victory in their first game.
