Arsenal 3-0 Monaco: Sensational Saka named Player of the match
Bukayo Saka has been named Player of the Match in Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat of Monaco in their UEFA Champions’ League group phase game at the Emirates stadium on Wednesday night.
The 23-year-old netted a goal in each half, tapping home Gabriel Jesus’ centre on 34 minutes before accepting an early Christmas present from visiting goalkeeper Radoslaw Majecki 12 minutes from time to avoid a nervy conclusion.
The Nigeria-born England international has now scored in six of his seven home Champions League appearances for Arsenal (7 goals), while he has been involved in 14 goals in 14 games overall for the Gunners in the competition (8 goals, 6 assists).
He has now been directly involved in 19 goals in 21 games across all competitions this season with Liverpool Mo Salah the only Premier League player with more goal involvements across all comps in 2024/25 (28).
Saka had three attempts and provided an assist in the game in addition to his two goals and UEFA’s Technical Observer Panel had little problem in choosing the Gunners’ top scorer this season the player of the match.
“Two goals and an assist ended up being the decisive attacking contribution on a night when Arsenal missed numerous chances,’ wrote the UEFA Technical Observer Panel
