Yaya Touré: PSG Are a Machine, Will Be Close to Third Champions League Title

Yaya Touré has backed Paris Saint-Germain to come close to winning an unprecedented third consecutive Champions League title after admitting his Slovan Bratislava side were simply overwhelmed by the reigning champions.

PSG began their title defence in devastating fashion on Wednesday, crushing Slovan 6-1 in Paris to underline their credentials as they chase a historic third straight European crown.

Touré, whose Slovan side could offer little resistance against Luis Enrique’s star-studded team, believes PSG have everything required to retain the trophy.

‘They’re going to be close to winning this trophy again,’ Touré said. ‘They’re strong all over the pitch and give everything, it’s exceptional.’

‘There are ten Ballon d’Or nominees within the squad. My team gave everything, it was difficult. The gap is considerable, to be honest, but we’re proud to have competed with them.’

The former Barcelona and Manchester City midfielder was particularly impressed by the way Luis Enrique has built the team.

‘Everything. It’s incredible. How Luis Enrique has built this team, they’re a machine,’ Touré said.

‘From back to front, they’re the complete package. They always find the extra man, they move well together. We’ll learn and we’ll try to improve.’

Touré also admitted Slovan were beaten in virtually every department.

‘It was a difficult game, a lot to learn and a lot to improve. We’ve just played against one of the competition’s top teams, they were better than us in all domains,’ he said.

‘What remains to be done is to work hard in order to reach the levels required.’

PSG’s emphatic victory, led by Ferran Torres’ hat-trick and another outstanding display from Ousmane Dembélé, has already sent an early warning to the rest of Europe.
