Aston Villa 0-4 Tottenham: Son hat-trick tightens Spurs’ grip on fourth place
Son Heung-min’s magnificent hat-trick helped Tottenham Hotspur win 4-0 at Aston Villa to move three points clear in fourth place.
Son fired Spurs ahead inside three minutes with a superb low strike off the left post after Harry Kane’s shot was blocked by Matty Cash.
Spurs were however, indebted to Hugo Lloris. The goalkeeper produced fine saves from Jacob Ramsey, John McGinn and Danny Ings in the first half.
Dejan Kulusevski doubled Spurs’ lead five minutes after the break with a fierce strike from Kane’s flick on.
Kane claimed his second assist, and third involvement in a goal, with a clever flicked header for Son, who converted his second goal on 66 minutes.
The South Korean completed his second Premier League hat-trick five minutes later, with a finish off the left post from Kulusevski’s pass.
Spurs’ fourth win in a row moves them on to 57 points, three clear of Arsenal following the Gunners’ 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
A fourth consecutive defeat means Villa drop to 12th with 36 points.
