Aston Villa 1-1 Man City: Haaland matches Premier League Goal record

Erling Haaland matched a Premier League goal record after scoring again as Manchester City drew 1-1 at Aston Villa.

The Norwegian tapped home at the backpost from Kevin De Bruyne’s superb cross to give City the lead shortly after the half-time break.

But Leon Bailey’s powerful effort rescued a point for Villa with 16 minutes remaining.

Haaland has now scored 10 goals in his first six Premier League appearances for Manchester City, the joint-fastest a player has reached 10 goals in the competition’s

history, alongside Mick Quinn back in December 1992.

The 22 year old could not however become the first player to score a hat-trick in three consecutive Premier League appearances as he was restricted to just one goal at Villa Park.

The Norwegian had scored his second successive Etihad Stadium hat-trick when goal-hungry City thrashed Nottingham Forest 6-0 mid-week, completing his treble in the space of just 26 minutes.

Haaland scored his first hat-trick when Manchester City hosted Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace at the Etihad stadium in a matchweek four fixture as the Cityzens recovered from two goals down to win 4-2.
