Aston Villa, Arsenal Headline Premier League Matchweek Two on SuperSport
The Premier League enters its second matchweek with another exciting round of fixtures, as some of the division’s biggest clubs look to build on positive starts while others seek an immediate response to opening-day setbacks. All the action will be broadcast live on SuperSport across DStv and GOtv.
Manchester City get the weekend underway on Friday when they travel to Crystal Palace at 8:00pm. City opened their campaign with a narrow 2-1 win over Bournemouth and will be looking for a more convincing performance, while Palace are seeking a response after losing 2-0 to Everton.
Liverpool host Nottingham Forest on Saturday at 12:30pm after needing a late penalty to salvage a 2-2 draw against Newcastle in their opening match. Forest, meanwhile, will be hoping to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat to Leeds United.
Bournemouth welcome Everton at 3:00pm before one of the standout fixtures of the weekend sees Tottenham Hotspur host Newcastle at 5:30pm. Spurs will be eager to recover from their 3-0 defeat to Brentford, while Newcastle head to north London following their impressive draw Vs Liverpool.
Sunday’s action begins with Chelsea hosting Brighton at 2:00pm. Chelsea edged Fulham 3-2 in an entertaining opening fixture, while Brighton made one of the biggest statements of the first round with a commanding 4-0 victory over Aston Villa.
Manchester United then host Ipswich at 4:30pm, with the Red Devils under pressure to respond after their shock 2-0 defeat to Hull City. Ipswich arrive on the back of a 2-1 victory over Sunderland.
The matchweek concludes on Monday with arguably the biggest fixture of the round as Aston Villa host defending champions Arsenal at 8:00pm. Villa will be desperate to put their 4-0 defeat to Brighton behind them, but face an Arsenal side that began their title defence in impressive fashion with a 3-0 win over Coventry City.
