Atalanta have received a timely boost ahead of their Champions League showdown with Athletic Club, as Ademola Lookman has returned to Bergamo following his exploits at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The forward, who scored thrice and provided four assists to help Nigeria secure third place at AFCON 2025, wasted no time rejoining his club, landing back in Italy after nearly a month away.
Lookman is expected to be available to coach Raffaele Palladino for Tuesday’s final training session and is in contention to feature in Wednesday’s decisive European fixture at the New Balance Arena.
His presence offers Atalanta renewed attacking firepower at a crucial moment in their campaign.
The return of the number 11 comes just as the club completed the signing of Giacomo Raspadori, giving Palladino a wealth of offensive options.
Only days ago, Atalanta looked short of depth in attack, but with Lookman back and Raspadori added to the squad, the team now approaches the clash with the Basques armed with heavy artillery.
