Awazie Confident Enyimba Will Rise Above NPFL Struggles

Enyimba forward Ekene Awazie has expressed confidence that the People’s Elephant will recover from their poor run in the Nigeria Premier Football League before the season concludes.
The Aba giants, who have won the NPFL nine times and twice lifted the CAF Champions League, have endured a difficult campaign with just eight wins, nine draws and eleven defeats in 28 matches.
Their struggles have left them 15th in the table, only a point above the relegation zone, and they have managed just one victory in their last nine outings.
Speaking after Sunday’s 1-1 draw against newcomers Kun Khalifat, in which he scored the equalizer, Awazie admitted the result was frustrating.
‘It was not the result we wanted, but we’ll keep working hard to get what we want,’ he said. ‘We are disappointed, and we also disappointed the fans because this should have been the time to start coming up and start getting our points at home, but we’ll still keep pushing to get the results we want.’
Reflecting on the missed opportunities, he added: ‘We missed our chances in the first half when we were supposed to wrap up the game, but the second half was so difficult. And coming back from a goal down was difficult against a team that just wants to defend and not attack.’
Despite the setbacks, Awazie insists Enyimba’s resilience will shine through.
‘Yeah, sure! That’s what they know Enyimba for. We never say die, we keep fighting,’ he declared. ‘It’s just the mindset. If we put our minds together that we are going to get there, we’ll get there. We’ll get the points. It’s just the beginning; we’ll start getting it right.’
