Awoniyi Named Man Of The Match For The Third Time, Equals Iheanacho

Taiwo Awoniyi was named the official Premier League Man of the Match in Forest’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday after netting for
the fourth straight time in the competition.

Awoniyi’s goal, the 10th of his debut campaign in the English topflight ensured he finished the season as Forest and Nigeria’s top scorer in the competition.

It was the second straight game the 25 year old would be named the best player on the pitch by the Premier League after winning eight days earlier at the
Emirates stadium where his club pipped Arsenal 1-0.

Awoniyi was first named player of the match in January when he scored the only goal that fecthed Forest all three points against Southampton at the Saint
Mary’s stadium.

Iheanacho was also named Man of the match thrice in the just ended season. He won his first in the 4-2 defeat of Aston Villa at Villa Park where he netted
once and provided two assists.

The 26 year old was also named the best player seven days later when Leicester City mauled Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 at the King Power stadium with the Nigerian
scoring once and bagging one assist.

The former Man City forward won his third official Premier League Man of the Match award in the Foxes’ 21 defeat of Wolves, scoring his team’s equalizer before Timothy Castagne netted the second on 75 minutes to secure all three points.

 

Alex Iwobi was the first Nigeria to be named the official man of the match in just ended season after his inspiring dsiplay helped Everton to a comprehensive
3-0 defeat of Crystal Palace at the Goodison Park last October.

The 27 year old provided two assists in the game to help the Toffees to victory following three straight losses to Man United (scored in a 2-1 loss), Tottenham (2-0) and Newcastle (1-0).
