Awoniyi seeking to equal Iheanacho, Utaka Premier League goal record
Taiwo Awoniyi will be seeking to become the third Nigerian in Premier League history after John Utaka and Kelechi Iheanacho to either score or assist in the first five Premier League of a season.
The 26 year old scored in his first three Premier League game of the season and provided the assist for Elanga in Forest’s 1-0 win at Chelsea just before the international break.
If he scores or provide an assist Monday evening when Forest host Premier League returnee, Burnley at the City Ground, he will equal the five goal involvements the duo of Utaka and Iheanacho achieved in 2007/08 season and 2016/17 respectively.
Utaka, now 41 scored twice and provided three assists in his first five games of his debut season in the Premier League while Iheanacho also netted twice and bagged three assists in three of his opening games of the 2016/17 season with Manchester City.
