AZ Alkmaar 1 – 1 Galatasaray: Osimhen happy to score in Europe again

Victor Osimhen netted his third goal in four UEFA Europa League games this season on Thursday evening to rescue a point and maintain the unbeaten status of his Turkish Super Lig side, Galatasaray.

The Nigerian scored on 43 minutes to cancel Sven Mijnans’ second minute strike for Dutch Eredivise side, AZ Alkmaar at the AFAS Stadion in Alkmaar, Netherlands.

Osimhen has now scored nine goals in 10 games across all competition for Galatasaray since he joined the club on loan from Napoli in September.

The 25-year-old was delighted to score again and happy his club left the AFAS Stadion in Alkmaar with a point to remain unbeaten in the group stage of the competition.

‘It’s a good feeling to score a goal, but we left here with one point. We didn’t attack much in the first half. We were more effective in the second half. We are happy for one point. Now we will move on.

‘There was a game four days ago, we might be mentally tired. Now we will prepare for the next match. I think our team’s performance was good. We want to win the next games.

‘We have never been beaten in the Europa League, but we have to go game by game.

‘In Europe, we can do three out of three. We respect competitors. We will do everything we can,’ said the Nigerian post-match.
