Babangida: Osimhen Should Be Playing For A Bigger Club Than Galatasaray

Former Super Eagles winger Tijani Babangida believes Victor Osimhen is good enough to play for a bigger club than Galatasaray, insisting the Nigerian striker is currently among the best forwards in world football.

Babangida made the remarks while speaking to Turkish newspaper Türkiye, praising Osimhen’s performances in both the Turkish Super Lig and the UEFA Champions League.

‘As you can see, Osimhen is one of the best strikers in the world right now. You can see it from league matches and the Champions League. Under normal circumstances, he should have been playing for a much bigger club than Galatasaray. His value may be higher than this amount,’ Babangida said.

The former Ajax winger also highlighted Osimhen’s competitive nature, describing him as an emotional player who is driven by the desire to win and score goals.

‘Osimhen is very emotional and always wants to win. When things are not going well, his anxiety is reflected outwardly. So, players need to know how to handle such situations,’ he said.

‘His performance is excellent. He is a fighter who is always trying to score goals and also helps his teammates. He hates losing games.’

Babangida also expressed confidence that Galatasaray could enjoy greater success in European competitions this season than they did last term, predicting that the Turkish champions would win a trophy.

‘I think they will go a little bit further this year in Europe compared to last season. In league or tournament matches, they are likely to reach the championship. They will definitely win a trophy this season,’ he added.

The former Nigerian international, who played in Turkey during his career, also suggested that Osimhen would score even more goals if they had played together, explaining that creating chances for the striker would have been his priority.

‘If we had played together with Osimhen, he would have scored more goals because he would have been my priority. With the ball at my feet, I would focus on the striker and definitely make him score more goals,’ Babangida said.
