Bassey Returns to Fulham XI, Iwobi Chases First Win in 19 Games vs Man City

Chukwueze Starts for Fulham, Eyes Another Goal Against City

After limited minutes since returning from AFCON 2025, Fulham defender Calvin Bassey is back in Marco Silva’s starting lineup for Wednesday night’s Premier League clash against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Bassey, who was named in the AFCON 2025 Best XI, is making his 16th start in 18 league appearances this season and his 75th in 82 Premier League games since joining Fulham from Ajax in 2023.

The 26-year-old is also making his 89th appearance across all competitions for the Cottagers, having scored four goals. He will be aiming for his first point against City, having lost all three previous encounters against Guardiola’s side.

Like Bassey, Alex Iwobi is also chasing a breakthrough against Manchester City.

The Nigerian midfielder is seeking his first win in 19 games across all competitions against the former Premier League champions, with 15 defeats in his previous 18 meetings, 13 of those coming in 16 Premier League appearances.

Samuel Chukwueze, on loan from AC Milan, is also named in Fulham’s starting XI.

The winger will be keen to find the net again against City, having scored in the thrilling 5–4 defeat at Craven Cottage in December 2025.

Chukwueze has three goals and four assists in 12 league appearances this season, and tonight marks his sixth start in 13 Premier League games.
