Besiktas make loan move for Iheanacho

Leicester City have reportedly received a loan offer for Kelechi Iheanacho from Turkish giants, Besiktas.

Besiktas, according to Turkish outlet Star, ‘want a new forward this summer with star striker Cenk Tosun currently injured and with their campaign kicking
off sooner than most.’

The Turkish Super Lig club are playing in the Europa Conference League in the forthcoming season but will start their Euro adventure from the second
qualifying round which begins on July 29.

Turkish outlet Star say ‘Iheanacho is a player they have targeted, putting forward a loan offer, including a fee of €2m. That would unlikely convince City,
who will want to sell Iheanacho for a decent fee if he is to leave.’

The 26-year-old has just one year remaining on his contract at the King Power Stadium and that puts him in a position where he could exit the club.

The Foxes won’t want to lose him for free next summer, which means he would either have to be sold or sign a new contract, with the latter option unlikely
with the club in the Championship and needing to cut wages.

The club may feel inclined to part with Iheanacho too, given they have two other strikers in their squad.

New manager Enzo Maresca has already confirmed that Jamie Vardy will be staying, while Patson Daka is on a long contract.

Iheanacho was named by supporters as player of the season last term, despite making just 13 starts in all competitions. He scored eight goals.

He has made 206 appearances and scored 55 goals for the Foxes since he joined from Manchester City in 2017.
