Bukayo Saka: ‘This is The Arsenal We Want to See’
Bukayo Saka hailed Arsenal’s impressive first-half display against Coventry City, declaring that the performance was exactly what the Gunners want to produce as they begin their Premier League title defence.
Saka scored Arsenal’s second goal as Mikel Arteta’s side raced into a 2-0 lead at half-time at the Emirates Stadium, with the England international also creating two chances and registering three shots.
Speaking after the game which the Gunners won 3-0, Saka said: ‘It’s a great start from us, nice to start first game of the Premier League at the Emirates with our fans, a great 45 minutes.
‘Amazing, we’ve played really well today, flowed, this is the Arsenal we want to see. We want more, want to score more, that’s the attitude we want to come back out with.’
The goal was another landmark moment for Saka, who has now scored 61 Premier League goals for Arsenal, moving him past Alexis Sanchez’s tally of 60.
The winger’s first-half display included 49 touches, 30 completed passes from 34 attempts, five touches in the opposition box, four possessions won and three successful ground duels from four.
Arsenal’s three goals also marked the first time they have scored three on Matchweek 1 of a Premier League campaign since September 2020, when they defeated newly promoted Fulham 3-0.
