Busari: Flamingos Ready To Make Nigeria Proud Against Brazil

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team head coach, Hakeem Busari, says reaching the semi-finals of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco is a dream come true as the Flamingos prepare to face Brazil on Wednesday.

Busari described the last-four berth as a major achievement and said his players were determined to make the country proud by producing another strong performance against the South Americans.

‘Reaching the semi-finals is a dream come true for me and a great achievement. I’m looking forward to it because I want to make my country proud,’ Busari told FIFA.com.

‘We want to give our best in the next match and show everyone what we can do.’

The Flamingos will face Brazil at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, Pitch 3, in Rabat, with a place in the final at stake.

Nigeria have recovered impressively from their opening 2-1 defeat to Poland, recording victories over Puerto Rico and defending champions North Korea before overcoming Mexico and Venezuela in the knockout rounds.

Their 2-0 win over Puerto Rico and 3-1 triumph against North Korea secured their passage to the Round of 16, where they defeated Mexico 2-1. Azeezat Oduntan’s 89th-minute penalty then secured a 1-0 quarter-final victory over Venezuela.

The Flamingos will now need another disciplined performance against a Brazilian side inspired by Greise Kelly, who has scored three goals and provided five assists at the tournament.

Wednesday’s semi-final is scheduled to kick off at 6pm local time in Morocco, 7pm Nigerian time.
