Chelle Confirms ‘Complete Machine’ Osimhen Played Injured at AFCON 2025

Nigeria National Team Coach Eric Chelle has revealed that striker Victor Osimhen joined the squad for the Africa Cup of Nations carrying an injury and played through the tournament despite the risk to his health.

Speaking in an interview with After Foot RMC, Chelle stated: ‘Osimhen came to the African Cup injured. He played the entire tournament with a minor hamstring injury.

‘Victor has a will of steel. He wanted to help his country, even if it risked his health. In this case, there are very few players who will accept to go on the field.’

The 48-year-old coach praised Osimhen’s determination and commitment, describing him as ‘a complete machine’. Chelle added:

‘If he doesn’t score even in training, he goes crazy. He wants to win everything.’
