Chelle Unsure of Super Eagles Future

The future of Super Eagles coach Chelle hangs in the balance after Nigeria’s semi-final exit at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Reflecting on the defeat, he admitted: ‘My future, now, I don’t know. I’m the coach of Nigeria, maybe in a few days my president will tell me, ‘it’s finished for you’ or, ‘you have to continue’, so I don’t know.’

Yet beyond the uncertainty, Chelle’s impact on Nigerian football has been undeniable.

He has rebuilt confidence in the Super Eagles, guiding them through a tournament that showcased discipline, resilience, and attacking flair.

Even in defeat, he spoke with pride: ‘I’m proud of my players but disappointed for them because the reality is maybe we were the best team in this AFCON. We go out with pride.’

Under his leadership, Nigeria rediscovered its identity, playing with courage and unity that reignited belief among fans. The campaign, marked by emphatic victories and a record goal tally, reminded the nation of the Super Eagles’ ability to soar again.

Chelle insists the focus must now shift to Saturday’s bronze medal clash with Egypt.

‘We have to stay focused on the third game and we have to win this game,’ he said, determined to finish on a high.
