‘Eagles ‘Dressed Down’ Osimhen Over Lookman Outburst,’ Says Journalist Edafe

Nigerian journalist and Chief Executive Officer of Elegbete TV, Eseoghene Edafe, has revealed that the Super Eagles squad reprimanded Victor Osimhen in the dressing room following his on-field outburst against teammate Ademola Lookman at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Osimhen and Lookman have formed Nigeria’s most potent attacking partnership over the last two years, but tensions flared during the round of 16 clash against Mozambique.
Despite Nigeria’s comfortable lead, Osimhen confronted Lookman in the second half, pointing a finger at him and accusing the forward of selfish play, even though Lookman had assisted one of his two goals.
Efforts by captain Wilfred Ndidi and even Mozambican players to calm the Galatasaray striker proved abortive.
Nigeria went on to win 4-0, but the incident overshadowed the result, with reports suggesting Osimhen stormed down the tunnel at full-time and threatened to abandon the team to return to his club.
Speaking in a podcast posted on Facebook, Edafe, who covered the tournament in Morocco, said many Nigerians were unaware of what transpired behind closed doors after the match.
‘People pretend like the social media they are on is where everything happens. Let me give you a vintage example, people do not realise that the whole players dressed down Osimhen in the dressing room. People don’t know. We know because we were there,’ he stated.
Ndidi later told the media that the matter was resolved internally, stressing that the team handled it ‘as a family.’
