Chelle Vows Super Eagles Will ‘Give Everything’ Against Morocco In Wednesday’s AFCON 2025 Semifinal in Rabat
Nigeria head coach Éric Chelle says his team will treat Wednesday’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final against hosts Morocco ‘as if it were our last,’ stressing the importance of unity and decisive leadership at this stage of the competition.
Speaking ahead of the clash at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Chelle acknowledged the challenge posed by the Atlas Lions but insisted the Super Eagles are prepared for every scenario.
‘At this stage of the competition, clear decisions are required,’ Chelle said at the pre-match press conference.
‘I’ve been fortunate to work with top-class players, and when you have players who have won CAF Player of the Year awards, it is never easy. Our strength lies in the group accepting those decisions, because the national team always comes first.’
Morocco, making their first semi-final appearance in 22 years, will be backed by a passionate home crowd as they chase a second continental title, their only triumph coming in 1976.
Chelle admitted the hosts have quality, singling out Brahim Díaz as ‘a good player,’ but emphasized Nigeria’s readiness.
‘Morocco are a strong team with qualities and weaknesses,’ he said. ‘We are ready for every scenario. We will give everything and approach every match as if it were our last.’
The semi-final brings together two of Africa’s football heavyweights, with Nigeria aiming to upset the hosts and secure a place in Sunday’s final.
