Chelsea Beat Arsenal to Morgan Rogers as £117m Aston Villa Deal Agreed

Chelsea have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Aston Villa to sign England forward Morgan Rogers in a deal worth £117 million, according to The Athletic.
The agreement, which is being finalised, would make Rogers the most expensive British player in football history, surpassing Manchester City’s reported £116 million deal for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson earlier this month.
Rogers is expected to sign a six-year contract with Chelsea, with an option for a further year at Stamford Bridge.
The forward could undergo his medical as early as Monday once the transfer formalities are completed.
The 23-year-old is currently with England as they prepare to face France in the World Cup third-place play-off on Saturday evening.
Chelsea’s move represents a major blow to Arsenal, who had reportedly identified Rogers as their top attacking target for the summer transfer window.
