Chidi: Winning U-17 World Cup Will Be Unforgettable For Nigeria

Flamingos captain Harmony Chidi says winning the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup would create an unforgettable moment for Nigeria, as the country’s youngsters prepare to face Japan in Saturday’s final in Rabat, Morocco.

Nigeria are chasing their first title in the competition and would become the first African nation to lift the trophy after reaching the final for the first time since the tournament began in 2008.

Chidi, who could become the first Nigerian captain to lift the trophy, described the opportunity as a dream come true for the players and the country.

‘I think it would be a great thing, a joy, and would never be forgotten in life,’ the forward told FIFA.

‘Reaching the final is a very big thing, it’s a great thing and it’s something that we have dreamed of. Winning would be something myself, my country, my teammates, our coaches, and everybody would be proud of.’
