Chuba Akpom’s the new goal scoring King of Teesside!

Nets 23rd goal of season, 1000th goal by a Middlesbrough player at the Riverside Stadium

Chuba Akpom’s 23rd goal of the season was not enough for Middlesbrough who were forced to share the points with Stoke City after playing out a 1-1 draw at the Riverside stadium Tuesday night.

The Nigerian put the home team ahead when he right footed a shot from the centre of the box to the bottom left corner on 23 minutes. The visitors equalized to end the half 1-1 and eventually the game.

With his 23rd of the season, Akpom has now extended his record as the highest goal scorer for Middlesbrough in a single season.

Having claimed his own bit of Middlesbrough history in our 5-0 thumping over Reading at the start of the month, Akpom once again etched his name into club folklore by scoring the 1000th goal from a Middlesbrough player at the Riverside Stadium.

At the Vicarage Road stadium, Nigeria goalkepeer, Maduka did not make the matchday squad list in Watford’s 3-0 defeat of Birmingham City.

The 23 year old is yet to feature for the Hornets in the Skybet Championships since he joined from Dutch Eredivise side, Sparta Rotterdam in January 2022.

He has been named 20 times to the matchday squad and has not made the list 17 times.
