Chukwueze doubtful for Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers Vs South Africa and Benin
Samuel Chukwueze is a huge doubt for Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying games against South Africa and Benin Republic after sustaining a left thigh strain during his Serie A club, AC Milan’s 5-1 demolition of Cagliari at the weekend.
The season is also over for the Nigerian at club level and will miss his club’s remaining two games in the Serie A viz against Torino and Salernitana.
Chukwueze picked up the injury just before half-time and did not come back out for the restart at San Siro on Saturday.
According to reports in Italy, tests have confirmed there is a Grade I lesion to the femoral bicep in the left thigh, the kind of injury that requires several weeks out of action.
In his first season in the Serie A, the Nigerian contributed three goals and three assists in 33 competitive games for the Rossoneri this season.
