De Gea makes four crucial saves, keeps fifth clean sheet, voted man of the match

Man United goalkeeper David de Gea was the hero of the evening with crucial saves and was deservedly voted man of the match as the Red Devils notched up their seventh win of the season to total move to fifth on the Premier League log.

The Spaniard made four crucial saves and four recoveries to bring his tally for the season to 31 in 12 appearances and 1,087 in 389 Premier League games since he made his debut in the competition in 2011/12 season.

The goalkeeper also kept his fifth clean sheet of the season and 135th overall.

“It was very tough at the end, we started giving the ball away too easily but we defended until the end. I know to be really focused the whole game, even if I don’t touch the ball – normally they have a couple of chances, even at the end, and they did today. I made the saves and it’s a massive win for us,’ De Gea said after the game.

Premier League pundit Owen Hargreaves says De Dea is a gaolkeeper for the big ocassions.

“We know what David De Gea does – he produces big saves at big moments. That’s what he’s best at. He’s been consistently United’s best player over the last few years,’ he said in his analysis on Skysports.
