De Gea: Man United should be fighting for ‘more things’ than Premier League top four

David de Gea insists Man United have the quality to achieve far more than just top four football.

The goalkeeper said this after Man United returned to winning ways following their 2-0 defeat of Brighton at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

The victory brought an end to a run of frustrating draws and it lifts the Red Devils into fourth in the Premier League table.

While De Gea was relieved to get back to winning ways, the Spaniard revealed his frustrations that the team are not able to have loftier ambitions.

“We should be fighting for more things than the top four, but that is the reality,” De Gea said.

“There are many teams fighting for the same position and with the quality we have we should win a lot of points.

“It is great always when you have the three points especially after we draw the last few games. We are all very happy.

“We knew that Brighton is one of the teams that play very well with the ball, press very good and for me it is a very good team. We started the second half better, we scored the goal, they went a man down but a big three points and the performance was there.”

United were lucky to go into the break level, and had De Gea to thank for that after he made a stunning save to keep a Jakub Moder header out.
