Dennis caged; Kalu, Iwobi benched, Troost-Ekong missing

Emmanuel Dennis has now failed to score in the Premier League for the fourth game running as Watford lost to West Ham 1-0 at the London stadium Tuesday night.

The 25 year old who returned to action after serving a one match ban due to the red card he got against Norwich City last month has never gone four games without a goal prior to Tuesday’s game.

Dennis is yet to score for the Hornets in 2022 and his last goal for the club incidentally came in Watford’s 4-1 drubbing in the hands of West Ham last December.

While Dennis was on for the entire duration of the game, new signing Samuel Kalu was left on the bench for 90 minutes.

The 24 year old who joined Watford from Ligue 1 side, Bordeaux on deadline day last month is still waiting for the chance to make his debut for the club and in the Premier League.

Super Eagles vice captain William Troost-Ekong was not in the matchday squad.

He was an unused substitute in the goalless draw at Burnley last Saturday.

At St James’ Park, Alex Iwobi was left on the bench as Newcastle whipped Everton 3-1 to climb out of the bottom three. Iwobi has not scored for Everton in 2022 and his only Premier League goal for the Toffees was scored last November in a 2-1 loss at the Molineux to Wolves.
