Diamond League: Seville sets Silesia meeting record, targets Brussels victory

Jamaica’s Oblique Seville stormed to victory in the men’s 100m at the Silesia Diamond League on Sunday, clocking a meeting-record 9.83 seconds to underline his form ahead of the Ultimate Championships.

Seville said he was delighted with the performance, which came close to his personal best, and praised the atmosphere at the Silesian Stadium.

‘I am in pretty good shape and I feel pretty good about the win. I am in great shape for the Ultimate Championships. The atmosphere here is great and I will look to come back next year,’ Seville said.

The Jamaican, competing in Poland for the first time, said the victory was particularly satisfying after he had promised to chase the meeting record during the pre-race press conference.

‘I got the meeting record like we said in the press conference. I can manage. There are great things ahead of me,’ he added.

Seville also highlighted the quality of the field, with several sprinters breaking 10 seconds in a remarkably fast race. He now has his sights set on another victory at the Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels.

‘For the rest of the season I would like to keep winning and the next win should be in Brussels,’ he said.
