Sweden’s world Pole Vault record holder indoors and out, Armand Duplantis tops the list of three men shortlisted for the European Athlete of 2022.

Others are Jakob Ingebrigtsen of Norway and Miltiadis Tentoglou of Greece.

Duplantis began his record-setting season with his 6.19m clearance indoors in Belgrade in early March and improved by a centimetre to 6.20m at the same venue but this time at the World Indoor Championships.

He set his third world record of the year outdoors, soaring highest to 6.21m at the World Championships in Oregon, USA on his way to winning the gold medal.

From his 19 competitions indoors and outdoors, Duplantis cleared 6.00m or higher in no fewer than 16 of them.

Norwegian superstar Ingebrigtsen set the first world record of his career indoors in Lievin where he became the first athlete to break the 3:31-barrier in the 1500m with a 3:30.60 clocking.

He won the 5000m gold at the World Championships in Oregon and added two more gold medals at the European Athletics Championships in Munich.
