Dynamic Athletics Meet to Boost Rankings and Regional Unity

Athletes from Benin, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and host nation Nigeria are preparing for the highly anticipated Dynamic Athletics Meet, scheduled for mid-August at the Yabatech Sports Complex in Lagos.

Founder and organiser Olabanji Ayegbusi confirmed that the World Athletics-sanctioned competition has already attracted strong interest across West Africa, with athletes signaling their readiness through official communication channels.

With the 2026 athletics season drawing to a close, many competitors view the meet as an ideal opportunity to finish their campaigns strongly, producing outstanding performances, achieving personal bests and earning valuable World Athletics ranking points.

The Dynamic Athletics Meet has built a reputation for delivering high-quality performances, including world-leading marks, meeting records and numerous personal bests.

This year’s edition is expected to continue that tradition, offering a competitive platform for both elite and emerging athletes. Official competition dates and registration details will be announced soon.

Ayegbusi appealed to stakeholders for increased technical and financial support to ensure the successful staging of the championship.

He emphasized the meet’s role in expanding competition opportunities and providing a stage for established and up-and-coming talents alike.

‘The Dynamic Athletics Meet belongs to everyone in the athletics family, athletes, coaches, former athletes, media practitioners, board members, technical officials and track and field philanthropists. We all have a role to play in making it bigger and better,’ Ayegbusi said.

He also called on the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) and the National Sports Commission (NSC) to lend their support, noting that their backing would significantly contribute to the growth and development of athletics in Nigeria and across West Africa.
