Eagles camp opens for Guinea-Bissau AFCON qualifiers with six players

Gaffer, Peseiro bizarely sacks Ike Shorunmu, Finidi George

The Super Eagles camp for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double header against Guinea-Bissua officially opens Monday in Abuja with six players.

The players are led by Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi, Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho, Southampton’s Joe Aribo and Semi Ajayi of Championship side, West Brom

Others are Atalanta of Italy’s Ademola Lookman and Germany-based defender, Kevin Akpoguma.

The six will likely be joined Monday morning by Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City and Nantes of France winger, Moses Simon who were reported to have arrived Nigeria on Sunday.

The camp however opened with some form of tension after it was discovered that Super Eagles’ gaffer, Jose Peseiro has replaced theteam’s goalkeepers’ trainer, Ike Shorunmu with the goalkeepers’ trainer of the Flying Eagles.

It was also learnt the team’s assistant coach, Finidi George has aso been asked not to report in camp.
The two coaches are former Nigeria internationals who have won laurels for the country.
