Eagles Watch: Onuachu pulls five clear of Osimhen in Super Lig scoring race

Paul Onuachu extended his lead over Victor Osimhen in the Turkish Super Lig scoring charts, while Alex Iwobi endured a forgettable milestone appearance for Fulham in a mixed weekend for Nigerian stars across Europe.

Onuachu found the net in Trabzonspor’s 1–1 draw with Alanyaspor, bringing his tally to eight goals in 12 Super Lig matches this season.

He remains level with Eldor Shomurodov of Istanbul Basaksehir but now sits five goals clear of Osimhen, who has scored just three times in eight league appearances.

Osimhen, however, remains in form after netting a hat-trick in Galatasaray’s 3–0 Champions League win over Ajax midweek and could close the gap when his side visits Kocaelispor on Sunday.

Elsewhere in Turkey, Wilfred Ndidi played the full 90 minutes in Besiktas’ 3–1 win over Antalyaspor at the Antalya Stadyumu, continuing his solid run of form.

In England, Fulham’s Nigerian trio struggled at Goodison Park as the Cottagers fell 2–0 to Everton.

Iwobi and Calvin Bassey both started and completed the match, while Samuel Chukwueze made his fourth substitute appearance since joining on loan from AC Milan, replacing Harry Wilson in the 59th minute.

The match marked Iwobi’s 90th appearance for Fulham across all competitions and Bassey’s 75th in the Premier League.

At Stamford Bridge, Tolu Arokodare remained on the bench as Wolves were thrashed 3–0 by Chelsea. Semi Ajayi made a late cameo for Hull City in their 3–2 win over Portsmouth, coming on for Joe Gelhardt in the 86th minute.

Bright Osayi-Samuel was also an unused substitute in Birmingham City’s 2–1 defeat to Middlesbrough at the Riverside.

In Spain, Akor Adams started for Sevilla but failed to score in their 1–0 win over Osasuna. Chidera Ejuke came on late for Ruben Vargas and both players are expected to feature for Nigeria in their CAF playoff clash against Gabon on Thursday.
