Ekevwo runs 10.11 seconds to place second at Meeting de Madrid 2022

Reigning African Games 100m champion Raymond Ekevwo ran 10.11 seconds to place second over the 100m behind Ivory Coast’s Arthur Cisse (10.06) at the World Athletics continental tour silver level meeting, the Meeting de Madrid 2022.

The race is the final tune up for Ekevwo as he prepares for the Nigerian Athletics Championships scheduled for between 24th and 26th of June, 2022 at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin city, capital of Edo state.

The 23 year old will be seeking his first Nigeria 100m title at the championships which will also serve as selection trials for both the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, USA and the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, the United Kingdom which start next month.

Ekevwo is coming to the championships as one of the second joint fastest Nigerians over the 100m with his 10.04 seconds personal season’s best.

In addition to the Nigerian 100m title, the African Games speed king will also be seeking a ticket to his second appearance in World Athletics’ flagship event, the World Championships in Oregon and will be hoping to go one better than his semifinal placing in Doha, Qatar three years ago.
