Ekperore, Olamide Back Athletic Heat 10th Anniversary Meet As Prize Pot Hits N5.5m

Nigerian hurdler Prosper Ekperore and distance runner Oluwaseun Olamide have joined the list of sponsors for the Athletic Heat 10th Anniversary Pre-National Sports Festival Meet, taking the total prize money for the November 7 event to N5.5 million.

Ekperore, a national 110m hurdles contender, will sponsor the men’s 110m hurdles, with N260,000 set aside for the top four finishers.

The winner will receive N100,000, while the second, third and fourth-place finishers will earn N70,000, N50,000 and N40,000 respectively.

Olamide will sponsor both the women’s 5000m and men’s 1500m, with each event offering N200,000 in prize money.

The winner in each race will receive N100,000, with N50,000 for second, N30,000 for third and N20,000 for fourth.

The sponsorships further strengthen Athletic Heat’s athlete-to-athlete support model as the organisation prepares to mark a decade of telling the stories of athletes across Nigeria and Africa.

The anniversary meet is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026, at the YabaTech Sports Complex in Lagos and will also serve as a final competitive tune-up for athletes preparing for the National Sports Festival.

According to the organisers, the meet will bring athletes and fans together for a day of competition and celebration, while providing ranking points and a competitive platform ahead of the Festival.

With the prize pot now at N5.5 million, more sponsors are expected to be unveiled in the coming days across the sprints, jumps and throws.

The organisers have urged athletics fans to remain tuned as preparations continue for the landmark 10th anniversary meet.
